Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting this site which is dedicated to raising money for the Humane Society of Charlotte through my half marathon run. My good friend Stacey and I are currently training for the Kentucky Derby Half Marathon in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday April 24, 2010. I will be running to benefit the animals at the Humane Society of Charlotte.

Please give if you can or just find out more about how you might help the Humane Society with in-kind donations (goods or services), or even by volunteering. Or just enjoy reading about the experience.

Here are some interesting facts about what your donation can do:
  • $25 will feed four hungry kittens for one week.
  • $50 will provide a warm bed for dogs in their kennel.
  • $75 will pay for spay/neuter surgery to prevent more homeless animals.
See more examples on the Humane Society of Charlotte website.

If you have any interest, from time to time, I'll update this site with updates on our training progress. As of the first week of February, we are currently working on 9 miles as a long run, running 4 times a week. Our training takes us up to 12 miles a few weeks before the half marathon. Of course after the race, I'll post our results and some pictures.

Thanks again for visiting.

The first 10 mile run of our training!

We did it. The first 10 mile training run after work yesterday. Feel great today and feel great about that run. We have a little under 2 months left until the 1/2 marathon and yesterday was a good sign that we'll be ready for it. Our only problem... apparently houses on Providence Road put out their trash on Fridays.

First race for 2010! Cupid's Cup 5k in Dilworth

This is the first race of 2010 for us and we both set personal records finishing under our average pace by over 1/2 minute/mile! My race time is somewhere around 27:40 and Stacey's time was under 30:00! We are feeling very good about this mornings race. Tomorrow's long run is 6 miles and next week's long run will be a challenging 10 miles.

Our race motivation: snakebites!
